Saudi orchestra masterpieces light up Rome in cultural night featuring Andrea Bocelli
Historic Colosseum backdrop hosts Saudi-Italian musical collaboration showcasing cultural exchange and global artistic dialogue.
The concert was held under the patronage of Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, Saudi Minister of Culture and Chairman of the Music Authority, amidst a cultural and artistic gathering, marking one of the most prominent events of the Saudi music project globally.
The evening featured 32 musicians from the Saudi National Orchestra and Choir, along with 30 musicians from the “Fontane di Roma” Orchestra, conducted by the Italian maestro Marcello Rota. Saudi, Italian, and international musical works were presented in a joint performance reflecting the cultural exchange between the two countries.
An instrumental piece titled “The Siege and Rome,” with lyrics by researcher and historian Sulaiman Al-Dhaib, was presented, inspired by the civilizational links between Saudi Arabia and Italy, reflecting the idea of cultural dialogue between the two civilizations through music.
Andrea Bocelli said that singing near the Colosseum always evokes “exceptional feelings,” noting that his participation with the Saudi Orchestra added a “distinctive character” to the evening, and emphasizing that music remains “a language capable of transcending borders.”
