CENTCOM prevents over 70 Oil tankers from entering or leaving Iranian ports
US intensifies maritime pressure as tensions escalate in the Gulf region.
With the continuation of the US maritime blockade on Iran since 13 April, the US military announced that it has prevented more than 70 oil tankers from entering or leaving Iranian ports.
The US Central Command known as CENTCOM said in a statement on Friday that more than 70 tankers were prevented today from entering or leaving Iranian ports.
It also added in a post on X that these commercial vessels are capable of transporting more than 166 million barrels of Iranian oil, worth an estimated over 13 billion US dollars.
At the same time, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed in a press conference that Iran’s control over the Strait of Hormuz is unacceptable under any circumstances. He pointed out that Tehran claims it controls an international waterway, but the United States will not allow that.
He also stressed that US forces are sinking Iranian fast boats that could threaten commercial ships in the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
