BEIRUT: Already a success in nightlife, Lebanon adds yet another spot on its list of party destinations, and this time, it's a maze-like city of pubs centered with a pool that offers a sunkissed delight during the day and a pumped up vibe during the night.
In the presence of the Minister of Tourism Avedis Guidanian, Vigor City officially launched during a soft opening on Thursday, which gathered the owner of the project Pierre Lahoud, investors, friends and relatives under a vast ceiling of black sky dotted with stars.
Following the Lebanese national anthem, Guidanian expressed his motivation for this project.
“It's a heroic act to start such a project during the tough times that Lebanon is going through; kudos for such a faithful investment in a magnificent city. I'm proud that there are still Lebanese people who believe in their country and invest in its tourism,” he said.
He then promised that this summer will be a hopeful one for Lebanon, and that 2019 will be a historical golden period for Lebanon's tourism.
Vigor City lays on a foundation of hard work. It came to be after eight months of renovation, according to entertainment manager Mendi Chedid.
“The land was like a haunted jungle, and we started from scratch. The project’s cost made the investment risky for Pierre, but, he had strong faith that planting in his country will make him harvest the sweetest fruits,” said Chedid.
After renovating the place, Lahoud used social media to spread the word for investors interested in renting the pubs. Chedid noted that all of the investors in the project feel today like one family and they consider Vigor City as both their safe home and their wild adventurous getaway.
Comers will have numerous options to choose from in this town. During the day, they can enjoy the pool and tan while sipping on cocktails, savoring appetizers, and listening to upbeat music. Whereas the night features 10 pubs for nightlife-lovers who enjoy jamming to upbeat music and drinking by the pool.
“Every Wednesday will be dedicated to Arabic Songs, Thursday will feature bands, Friday will be a Bazar night, Saturday will be a pure clubbing experience, and Sunday we will team up with Virgin Radio for a booming day of both worldsm," he said, adding that from Thursday to Sunday, energetic dancers will hit the stage for a pump that adds to the thrill.
During the opening, attendees enjoyed a buffet of sweet and sour bites and different kinds of drinks to celebrate a new clubbing spot which, from its beginning, attracted many; be it through word of mouth or social media.
“I saw Vigor City’s Facebook page and I was exhilarated to know that I will have a new spot to club in. We need such initiatives in Lebanon, since most of us are party animals who enjoy nightlife,” said Rita Daoud while sipping on her drink.
Celestine Eid, who heard about the place from a friend, describes the city as a non-stop escapade where people can spend their whole day smiling.
Chedid indicated that the city, which fits more than 5000 individuals, will still be open during winter, but with a different concept that will surprise people.
The soft opening featured fireworks that lit the sky to mark the beginning of a new nightlife experience in a “city that never sleeps.”
The grand opening for Vigor city will be on the May 31.
