BEIRUT: Prominent Radio One host Gavin Ford was found dead Tuesday in his apartment in Broumana as a result of strangulation, a source from the Internal Security Forces told Annahar.
The preliminary investigation noted that Ford's hands were bound behind his back and he was strangled using a piece of cloth. His car and wallet were also stolen.
Ford, a British Citizen who had been hosting his show "Gavin Ford in the morning" for more than two decades, was found dead with his body covered in blood and severe bruising as a result of what appears to be blunt force trauma.
The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, but the source did confirm that he was in fact murdered.
Eyewitnesses confirmed to Annahar seeing Ford walking with his dog around the Broumana area over the weekend.
After failing to show up to work on Tuesday, his concerned colleagues contacted the ISF who then entered his home.
A statement posted on Radio One's Facebook page said, "We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our dear friend and colleague Gavin Ford. The management and team express our deepest sympathies to his family, friends and colleagues. May his soul rest in peace."
Friends and fans of the late Ford turned to social media to express their remorse and offer their condolences.
Photos, selfies, and chats with the radio host were posted with farewell captions and offered as a final goodbye.
Other users tweeted their disbelief and shock at the news, with many saddened by the thought of no longer starting their days with Ford’s radio show.
