BEIRUT: A fire broke out Tuesday morning on a roof at part of the American University of Beirut's hospital complex.
There were no reports of injuries.
“The emergency team responded very rapidly in taking the necessary action,” a hospital staff member told Annahar.
A note posted from the AUBMC reported that the fire started on the 2nd roof level of the Main Hospital Building at AUBMC and was completely contained within 15 minutes after the eruption. The fire occurred in the fiber scrubber outside the walls of the building and smoke was discharged directly into the open air.
"AUBMC’s Plant Engineering Team and Emergency Response Team (ERT) have been very responsive in taking the necessary action to extinguish the fire promptly and secure the location," according to the school.
Operations at the Medical Center have not been interrupted and work continued running normally, AUBMC reported.
Annahar will be reporting further details as the story develops.
