BEIRUT: Charles Ayoub, editor-in-chief of the daily ‘Addiyar,’ has been arrested for writing a bad check for MP hopeful Sarkis Sarkis.

Mount Lebanon Prosecutor Ghada Aoun on Thursday ordered Ayoub's arrest for writing a $300,000 check that bounced.

Negotiations between Sarkis and Ayoub are currently ongoing to solve the legal conflict, a source told Annahar.

Sarkis is a candidate in the upcoming parliamentary elections running on the Free Patriotic Movement (FPM) list In the district of Metn.

Over the past few weeks, Addiyar ran a number of articles attacking Sarkis. His lawyer said Ayoub was seeking to blackmail Sarkis by running fabricated stories in the media.
