BEIRUT: Following the crash of a private jet going from UAE to Turkey Monday, pictures of a famous bride to be and her friends who were killed on board went viral on social media.
Among the 11 people who were on board were eight women who were enjoying 28-year-old Mina Basaran's bachelorette party in Dubai, hours before their death in Basaran's private plane, which belonged to Basaran Investment Holding, according to Turkey’s Transport Ministry.
Mina, the daughter of the Turkish businessman Husesin Basaran, had planned her wedding for next month, news agencies reported.
The flight took off Sunday from Sharjah International Airport in the UAE, home to the low-cost carrier Air Arabia. A little over an hour into the flight, the aircraft rapidly gained altitude and then dropped drastically within minutes, according to FlightRadar24, a flight-tracking website.
It remains unclear what caused the crash, though a witness told state television the Bombardier CL604 was on fire before it hit the mountain.
Investigators on Monday found the “black box” from the private jet, which crashed in an Iranian mountain range.
