BEIRUT: Lebanese comedian and actor Ziad Itani has been detained and being investigated for potential ties to Israel, a security source told Annahar. However, Itani's family did not confirm whether that allegation led to his arrest.

Riad Itani told Annahar that his brother Ziad has been detained since Thursday, adding that "the family could not reach him to know the reason behind the investigation," asking for patience before jumping to conclusions.

Itani has featured in a number of theatrical plays and made many TV appearances in the past years.

His most notable appearances include working along side renowned director, writer, and actor Yehia Jaber in 'Beirut Tarik Jdeede' and 'Beirut Fawk al Shajara'.
