President Aoun to meet with Pope Francis

BEIRUT: President Michel Aoun arrived Wednesday to the Vatican and is scheduled to meet Thursday with Pope Francis and the Cardinal Secretary of State, Pietro Parolin, according to the National News Agency.

Aoun, accompanied by his wife and family members, will take part Thursday afternoon in a Mass at St. Maron Church, with the participation of Maronite religious groups, clerics, and members of the Lebanese community in Rome.

Before leaving to the Vatican this morning, President Aoun signed the appointment decrees of the Director General of Customs, and the Director General of the State Security and his deputy, who were appointed during the latest Cabinet meeting, the News National agency reported.
