BEIRUT: The French Embassy and the French Institute of Lebanon along with makesense are launching the Omdi أمضي program to support young citizen-based initiatives and startups that are solving a local challenge in Lebanon.

Following the blooming of many youth-led impactful initiatives during the Thawra, this program has been developed to provide technical, financial and community support to the many initiatives that aim to build a more inclusive and sustainable society in Lebanon. Example of thematics include the environnement, gender equality, employability, arts and culture, food safety, and more.

Who can apply?

Only the projects that carry a positive social or environmental impact can apply to one of two categories: Emergence and Evolution. Emergence targets projects that are quite new, do not necessarily have an MVP (prototype), and are not generating revenues yet. Evolution is for startups and NGOs that have been on the market for more than a year, have a validated MVP and started to generate revenues.

To help emerging projects apply to the Omdi program, makesense is organising five online ideation workshops during the month of June. The ideation workshops are free, and allow participants who have an idea to structure it and develop it with the live-advices and coaching of some skilled facilitators. Every workshop is in arabic.

Planning and program for the Evolution applicants:

June 1st 2020: Opening of the call for application

The cooperation and cultural action department of the French Embassy and the French Institute of Lebanon drive various bilateral cooperation programs between France and Lebanon (education, research, culture, governance...). They endorse civil society initiatives thanks to various grants, programs, and experts.

This two-year project falls within the framework of the Solidarity Fund for social innovations from the civil society and youth in Lebanon.
