BEIRUT: Middle East Airlines announced Tuesday that it would stop selling tickets at its offices for the next three months.

The decision came following a meeting between Prime Minister Dr. Hassan Diab, Central Bank Governor Riad Salameh and Chairman of the Board of Directors of MEA Mohamed El Hout.

MEA will take this time to evaluate the market as Lebanon grapples with its most severe economic crisis in decades.

Earlier this month, MEA reversed a decision to only accept U.S dollars after sparking nationwide discontent.

Lebanon is faced with a massive shortage in dollar liquidity, with the black market surging to 2,500 LBP to the dollar.
