Red Bull 3Style Competition, taking over B018 with six finalists

They aim to impress the panel of judges and get the crowd on their feet.

BEIRUT: Celebrating the culture of DJing and bringing it closer to the local scene, Red Bull 3Style, the largest global DJ competition in the world, is set to kick-off in Lebanon in its third edition.

The ultimate battle, followed by an after-party, of the turntables will take place in B018, Quarantina, on February 5. Six Lebanese DJs will be competing for the chance to represent Lebanon and the Middle East in the World DJ Championship in Moscow, Russia.

The rules for the Red Bull 3Style are simple. Each competitor plays a combination of at least three musical genres for 15 minutes. They aim to impress the panel of judges and get the crowd on their feet. The DJs will be scored on their originality, skills, music selection, and crowd response.

The nationalists for the competition have been narrowed down after they submitted a 5-minute online video. the first round was open to all musicians from around the world.

The final nationalists include six performers:

"I’m really looking forward and lucky enough to be representing Lebanon and hopefully bring it home! My motto is to innovate, be different, have fun and stay humble,” said DnK, one of the nationalists who has been DJing for 10 years.

Edrien, an American Lebanese professional Urban, RnB, and Hip-Hop DJ, turntablist, and producer.

DJ OH J! who competed in the finals of 2017 as one of the youngest DJs ever.

DJ PIERRE G, who began his music career in 1996 by collecting pieces of vinyl and practicing mixing on turntables.

DJ PINK JC, who is the first female DJ to participate in the Red Bull 3Style nationals.

DJ ZAYN, the youngest of the participants whose been constantly improving his sound and technique.

The judging panel, which will also bring the heat to the after-party following the competition in B018, includes DJ BYTE from Chile; DJ Beats, a two-times champion; Hedspin from Toronto; Aleqs Notal from France; and maDJam, a local gem. The event will be hosted by Chyno, one of the pioneers of the Lebanese rap scene, and local DJ Rami O, who will be setting the mood with a unique old school selection.
