BEIRUT: The U.S reiterated its support for Lebanon’s energy sector Thursday after US Ambassador Elizabeth Richard paid a visit to the Deir Ammar Combined Cycle Power Plant.
The visit came « in recognition of recent energy projects in Lebanon and the contribution of American companies in this sector, » a statement released by the embassy said.
Richard was accompanied by Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources Francis Fannon.
Primesouth, a U.S.-based company, is responsible for the operations and maintenance of Deir Ammar Power Plant and Zahrani Power Plant under a contract signed with EDL in 2016.
Primesouth officials led the tour and provided a briefing on the major activities being conducted in the plant to ensure lifetime extension and enhanced efficiency.
The plant is currently operating at an average availability of 95%, a significantly high level based on applicable best practices, the statement said.
